Causes of clutch slip

- Excessive Wear of a Facing [Slip]

 Causes

Excessive Use of an Engine Brake

Frequent use of engine braking strains the clutch facing, leading to faster wear.

This is common in vehicles driven in hilly areas, where engine braking is used to control speed on descents.

Missed Disc Replacement Time

Failing to replace the clutch disc at recommended intervals causes excessive wear,

leading to slippage and potential damage to other components like the flywheel or pressure plate.

Excessive Use of a Half Clutch

Holding the clutch pedal in a semi-engaged position, especially in traffic or on inclines, leads to overheating and accelerated wear,

which reduces the clutch’s ability to transfer power effectively.

 Maintenance & Precaution

Replace the Clutch on a Kit Basis

Replace the clutch as a complete kit (disc, cover, bearing) when excessive wear is noted, ensuring even wear

and prolonging the lifespan of all components for optimal performance.
